Park of the Uccellina: Loc. Talamone (Grosseto)

The park of the Uccellina is situated between the city of Principina to Sea and Talamone, has an extension of 10.000 hectares, in which the varied territory from flat zones to north to swampy lands towards the sea, in the part center them predominates mounts while more to south the Mediterranean spot with long prevails pinewoods. The park was instituted in the 1975 from the Tuscany Region, thanks to a regional law instituted in order to safeguard the natural patrimony. The higher part of the park is constituted from mounts of the Uccellina, in species from the Hill of the Lecci, a height from which it is possible to admire the entire park until the sea and beyond until the island of the Giglio, Elba and even the Corsica. The park has also a cultural spirit, in fact in all the territory they are present religious buildings and ancient towers between the more important we remember the tower of Cove of Furnace, Castelmartino and the Abbey of Saint Rabano. The fauna is that typical one of the Mediterranean zones, in fact it is not rare to encounter in wild cats us and vixens, but common animals do not lack equally also, but a po' more difficult to sight like the weasels the wild boars, the caprioli and the porcupine. Between the more common plants there is the oak from cork, the thymus, arbutus and the ginestre.
